The National Institute Of Industrial Property (INPI) Launches A Public Domain Patent Database
By Rosario Mauro and Antonella Balbo.
The National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has recently launched a Public Domain Patent Database, which is now accessible to the public through its website.
This database allows users to easily track and search for all those Patents that have reached the end of their legal term, and for which the applicants no longer possess exclusive rights for industrial and commercial exploitation.
The database enables searches by various criteria (such as searching by owner, inventor, area, title, or keywords, among others). It might become a useful and user-friendly technological tool, improving access to knowledge and the circulation of information.
This database can be very useful, especially for inventors and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to improve their inventions, design strategies for commercial viability, and identify market opportunities considering the available information.
The database is available on the INPI website or by clicking here.
